This week has seen SER getting back to full working – and how great it is to be up and running again! The nature of completing a structural survey has meant that we have been unable to undertake most of our usual work, aside from the occasional empty building in the middle of a field. Now that we are able to enter property (under strict guidelines regarding social distancing and the health and safety of our engineers and customers of course) we are delighted to be fully operational again, and are already very busy.

Estate Agents in England opened again in mid-May and as we take our first tentative steps out of Lockdown, the housing market is definitely waking up. The Rightmove website had its busiest ever day last week, which we can expect to lead to growing numbers of sales in the future. The backlog of house moves put on hold when coronavirus struck will also have their files opened again.  In some of these cases, surveys may uncover the need for a Structural Engineers Report, which we will be happy to provide.

Looking further ahead, the longer term impact of our experiences in the spring of 2020 may well be felt in the housing market for some time to come. Time for reflection may have resulted in a need or desire to change the situations we currently live in. Relationships may have been re-assessed and for many, employment may have changed too. It has been suggested that house moves to rural locations or to bigger properties that are more suitable for home working may increase. There may still be much to feel uncertain about but, with the housing market slowly starting to emerge from its slumbers, remember that if you need a structural report for a house purchase (or any other reason in fact) our SER Engineers and Admin Team are fully prepared and ready to assist you.
