Having visited Dubai recently, the impressive Burj Khalifa remains close to my heart. I mean isn’t it just absolutely stunning?

It is in fact the largest manmade structure in the world. The website allaboutcivil.com states ‘The superstructure has reached over 165 stories. The final height of the building is 2,717 feet (828 meters). The height of the multi-use skyscraper has “comfortably” exceeded the previous record holder, the 509 meter (1671 ft) tall Taipei 101.’ Which puts into perspective just how tall the structure actually is! The skyscraper also has a reinforced concrete structure which makes it stronger than steel-frame skyscrapers. For a building of this height and slenderness, designers have had to purposely build the structure in a ‘y’ shape to protect the tower against strong wind forces. All of these elements and smart planning by designers is the reason why people all over the world continue to visit it today.
