Ever played the classic game of Jenga? If so, in case you didn’t know, it was created by British board game designer and author Leslie Scott and marketed by Hasbro.
The word ‘Jenga’ is a Swahili term which means ‘build’ and for myself and many other families, the 1970’s building game is still a firm favourite. The art of building the tower and then watching everyone slowly take a piece of the tower away with one hand creating a progressively more unstable structure, makes you realise how vital it is for a building to have every element designed and built correctly. I wonder how many Structural Engineers out there started with Jenga?
