How many of us drive home from work every day not noticing the amazing landmarks we go past? I put my hands up, guilty as charged.
Recently I have been taking a different route home from work and now my daily journey passes under the eye catching, steel bowstring Ningbo Friendship Bridge on Clifton Boulevard. This bridge is part of a multi-million pound NET tram extension. The 17.5km expansion serves employment sites such as QMC, the University of Nottingham, Beeston town centre and Clifton.
The bridge was created to mark the 10th anniversary of the University of Nottingham in Ningbo, just south of Shanghai. It measures 62 metres long and weighs more than 1,000 tonnes. It also features a series of structures that form a 300-metre-long tram route through the Queens Medical Centre which is the UK’s first regional hospital to be directly served by tram services.
