Although we all know that the reality is still far from ‘normal’, it feels like we are beginning to emerge into a summer of a little more freedom. Within strict guidelines we are now able to go to the pub and meet friends, to invite others into our houses and to travel to different parts of the country – maybe even take a holiday.
Just driving around, places suddenly feel new again. We look around us eagerly, drinking in scenes that might be familiar, but suddenly seem more interesting. Having been confined over the past few months, we are excited to look outwards and, with the property market back in full swing, we may wonder if this might be the time to make that house move that has been on the back burner.
It is human nature to be a bit nosey and as we travel further afield again we might see a quirky property and wonder what it might be like to live there. We may catch a glimpse of our dream home, should we win the lottery. If there is a For Sale board outside, we might well pull out the laptop when we get home and take a virtual tour.
During lockdown we have been dependent on the internet, whether for work or keeping in touch with family and friends. Shopping online for a while became our only option – from the purchase of essentials to browsing homes. It has been a lifeline for many and a means of connectivity with the outside world. It is a window from which we can, if we want to, indulge our tendency to nosiness. Estate Agents use this tool to great effect, taking us through this marketplace on our screens from the comfort of our sofa and even if some of our musings are a flight of fancy, I think we all deserve a bit of that!
