Looking out of my office window on this sunny but cold day in January it’s hard to believe that meteorologists have warned the UK to brace itself for further extremes of weather, including snow. This got me thinking … which is better, frost or snow?
For residents of the UK, perhaps except for Scotland, we don’t get a lot of snow so tend to go crazy for it until it inevitably impacts on our daily lives. A generous fall of snow obliterating everything you can see may be exciting for school children who are having to stay at home for a snow day, but the same can’t be said for working parents.
For me, frost is better both visually and practically; a light dusting of frost can make any landscape look pretty. Experts claim that a walk on a clear frosty morning has huge health benefits such as clearing your mind, reducing stress, promoting better sleep, and improving immunity.
Whilst all this is very well, cold weather can damage your property which we wrote about in our article ‘Save hassle, save money – protect your home this winter’. Perhaps whilst you are deliberating the merits of frost versus snow, go and have a read to see how you should be protecting your home this season as we haven’t seen the last of the wintry weather before Spring finally arrives.
