Navigating the complexities of home buying: understanding surveys and structural engineers reports
Embarking on the journey of purchasing your first home is an exciting, yet daunting, process. From navigating unfamiliar procedures to deciphering complex terminology, it’s understandable to feel overwhelmed. However, with the right guidance, you can navigate this terrain with confidence.
Protecting your home this winter
As the calendar turns another page with the lingering warmth of September a faint memory and December just on the horizon, it’s time to acknowledge the changing seasons. Exploring the architectural marvels of Brussels
During a recent visit to Brussels, Belgium, I had the privilege of immersing myself in a world of architectural wonders. Brussels, often regarded as the heart of the European Union, boasts a wealth of impressive sites. Among the city’s many gems are the Stock Exchange, the Royal Saint-Hubert Galleries, the Royal Palace, Brussels Park, and the imposing Palace of Justice.
Vernacular Architecture in The Lake District

Its allure lies not only in its natural beauty, characterised by rolling hills and pristine lakes, but also in its charming vernacular architecture.

Bazalgette’s legacy
We have undertaken a few structural designs for public toilet blocks over the years and although not the most glamourous of buildings to design, their importance far outweighs the desire for a structural challenge.
An icon of engineering design – Paternoster lifts
Have you ever heard of a Paternoster lift? If not, you are not alone, as these icons of design are not very common these days.
Unusual jobs for engineers
The ICE website features an article that examines exceptional roles in civil engineering. As part of their Tomorrow’s Engineers week, they highlighted that there are some fantastic and diverse opportunities out there for engineers that are not just about calculations and concrete.
